Gloria Elizabeth Joan (Dennison) Greene. 71 of Waco was called to her heavenly home on Friday March 14th. 2008 following a lengthy battle with lung disease.
Her memorial service will be held at Lakewood Christian Church. 6509 Bosque Blvd on Tuesday. March 18 at 2:30 pm with the Reverend Jack Mullins and Deacon Greg George officiating.
Gloria was born on January 11th, 1937 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada to parents Arthur and Elizabeth Dennison.
As a teenager she moved to the United States and on June 15th 1956 married her beloved Kenneth Loyd Greene in Arlington, Texas. After 43 years of marriage he preceded her in death on December 26th, 1999.
The center of Gloria' s life was her beloved family, daughter Gwendolyn Ann Greene of Waco, daughter Angela Bernetta (Greene) Bokay, son-in-law Dennis Bokay and her beautiful grandchildren Caitlyn Gwendolyn Bokay and Gabriel Elijah Bokay of St. Joseph, Missouri.
In addition to her family, Gloria's great passion in life was to care for her own precious cats as well as the endless number of strays that she lovingly fed and sheltered.
Many friends and neighbors, attracted by her great compassion, also became part of her extended family. Some even referred to her as "Mom" and loved her as dearly as their own mother or grandmother.
In addition to her daughters, she is survived by two brothers. Curtis and Malcolm Dennison of Saint John. New Brunswick, Canada and three sisters, Florence Record of Pottsboro, Texas, Lois Wooden of Norton, New Brunswick, Canada and Virginia Hodgins of Minesing, Ontario, Canada.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Canada, United States and abroad.
Memorials may be made to Lakewood Christian Church Scholarship Fund, The American Lung Association or the American Humane Society.
Her family wishes to thank the doctors, staff and Chaplain Services of Providence Health Center for providing exemplary, compassionate and loving care during Gloria's final days.
