Gloria Jean Gonzales
September 21, 1948 - November 14, 2021
Gloria Jean Gonzales passed away on November 14, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 22 at Saint Louis Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. Sunday, November 21, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.
Gloria was born in Waco, Texas, to Paul and Emma Serrato Carrizales. She retired from the VA Medical Center after working there for over 30 years. She was married to her soulmate for 53 years and had three children.
Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her contagious smile could light up a room; and her warm hugs were always welcomed. She devoted her life to her family and had a selfless love when caring for others. She believed in kindness and encouraged others to love and be happy. She was a constant source of positivity and hope for everyone. Gloria loved to dance and bake for her family and friends. She had several lifelong friends who she cherished. She was extremely proud of her family and supported all of their endeavors. We take great comfort in believing Gloria and Johnny are together again.
Survivors Include her daughters, Jessica Janeen Alvarez and Melissa Marie Ybarra and husband, Chris, sisters, Evonne Fraga and Delores Yanez, husband Jaime, grandchildren, Alexander, Anthony, Sammy, and Sunny, mother-in-law, Eloise Gonzales, brother-in-law, Nick Gonzales and wife, Lisa and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny T. Gonzales, her son, John Paul Gonzales, son-in-law, Joe (Jay) Alvarez Jr., grandson, Andrew John Alvarez, parents, Paul and Emma Carrizales, brother, Henry Carrizales, nephew, Christopher John Fraga, and beloved sister-in-law, Ana Salinas.
Pallbearers will be Steve Soto, Chris Ybarra, Alexander Jay Alvarez, Anthony Alvarez, Sammy Ybarra, and Mito Diaz-Espinosa
