Gloria Fernandez Phelps, 58, of Waco, passed away late Saturday night, February 21, 2004, in Waco, Texas.

[b]Funeral[/b]
The funeral procession will leave OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Mighty Wind Worship Center, 1100 Washington Ave. Services will begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joe Carbajal officiating and Chief Jim Doak delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.

[b]Visitation[/b]
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.

[b]Her Life[/b]
Gloria was born September 6, 1945, in Green Bay, Wisc., to Jose C. and Antonia (Longoria) Fernandez.

Since 1987, she has been a Public Service Officer with the Baylor University Department of Public Safety.

Gloria was a loving mother and grandmother and excellent cook who was devoted to her family. Gloria was a member of the Mighty Wind Worship Center where she was always faithful to God, and she unselfishly put others before herself.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Antonia Fernandez.

Gloria leaves her father, Jose C. Fernandez of San Antonio; sons, Ralph Reyna of Waco and David Reyna and wife, Laura of Seminole, OK; daughters, Gloria Reyna, Diana Reyna, Julianne Phelps, and Jennifer Phelps, of Waco; brothers, Joe L. Fernandez and wife, Yolanda, of San Antonio, Emilio Fernandez and wife, Lina, of Covina, Ca., Ruben Fernandez and wife, Mary Ann, of Edinburg, and Robert Fernandez and wife, Angie, of San Antonio; sisters, Esther Meiche and husband, Gene, Evangelina Patlan and husband, Luis, Sylvia Avalos and husband, Toby, all of San Antonio, Antonia Espinoza and husband, David, of McAllen, and Norma Jean Fernandez of Las Vegas, Nev., 15 grandchildren, Natalie Shaw, Samantha Reyna, Christina Arizola, Henry Reyna, Amanda Reyna, Sabrina Reyna, Stephanie Reyna, Ralph Reyna III, David Reyna Jr., Tiffany Reyna, Dakota Orr, Vanessa Reyna, Julie Ann Reyna, Daniel Reyna, and Cassandra Reyna, and four great-grandchildren, Brianna Garcia, Jasmine Garcia, Daryl Shaw Jr., and Henry Reyna, Jr..

The family appreciates everyone who made Gloria comfortable during her illness, especially Hillcrest Hospice, and Chief Jim Doak and her co-workers at Baylor DPS.
