Gordon Wayne Dalton
Born April 17, 1925 -- Died March 26, 2015
He was born to Robert D Dalton and Hattie Alexander Dalton in Tye, Texas. He served his country in the US Army from 1943 to 1945. His parents preceded him in death, also his brothers: J. M. Dalton, Billy Mac Dalton, Elbert Dalton, Alec Dalton and Jerry Carl Dalton, his sisters: Effie Mae Montgomery and Beatrice “Sis” Mansfield, and his daughter: Donna Lynch.
He had several occupations in his lifetime. He ran a gas station in Big Spring, TX and another later in Corpus Christi, TX with his brother, Elbert. He was a welder for Reynolds in Corpus Christi, TX. He was a service technician for Wheat repairing ice machines in Houston, TX. Early in his life he was a truck driver with his brother Alec in Big Spring, TX and in Corpus Christi, TX and was an owner operator in the latter part of his working life in Houston, TX. It was during this time in 1977 when he became an avid rock hound and had the opportunity to take his loads to their destinations and look for his rocks. In his later years he could still tell you where he found or purchased almost every rock he had in his collection. He had everyone looking down when ever they walked anywhere looking for “pretties”.
He was a member of the Roadrunner Rock Club in Big Spring, TX. He came from Big Spring, TX to Waco, TX to live with his daughter, Elaine and her family in January of 2012. He enjoyed going to the Harrison Senior Citizen Center on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays to play dominos and have lunch. He was a man’s man and enjoyed life to its fullest.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughters: Elaine Salinas & husband Ernest (he always was ol’ Ernie Boy to dad) from Waco, TX, Nina Cobb from Plato MO, Wendy Dalton from Houston, TX, Irma Muniz from Bastrop, TX, Sylvia Segovia & husband Ernest from Abilene TX, Jerrie Weaver from Sturkie AR, Ada Clayton from Oklahoma City, Ok, son Alfonso Quintero & wife Delores from Corpus Christi, TX and many grandchildren, great grand children, great great grand children, and nieces & nephews.
The family would like to thank Senior Care of Hewitt and their staff for the care they showed Dad. He made a many friends there. He will be greatly missed.
