Gordon was born in Waco on December 24, 1933, to Leona Mae and Gordon O. Whitehead Sr. He attended Waco Tech, and enjoyed the reunions with his classmates over the years since their graduation. Gordon was a Marine stationed in Korea, and eventually returned to Waco and married Michaelette "Mike" Heath and they had four children. Gordon was a letter carrier, and when he retired, worked at the Mitchell Station. He will be forever missed by a multitude of people, from all walks of life, for many different reasons.
"Mike" preceded him in death, along with a son, Brian Kelly Whitehead, and a son-in-law, Ernest White.
Left to miss him most are his children, Debbie White of Speegleville, Denise and husband Steve Miller of Bosqueville, Gordon Christopher Whitehead of Bosqueville; grandaughters, Charlana Jo Byant, and Danielle Gardner, of Bosqueville, Allison and husband Brent Martin of San Antonio, and Kelly Brianne Whitehead of Oklahoma; a grandson, Jeremy Schultz of Bosqueville; a great-grandson, Kevin Wayne Tatum Jr.; brother, Bill Whitehead and wife Sue of Waco, and a number of other relatives. He is also survived by his ole' buddy Bill Donaldson and wife Joan, who were always more than just lifelong friends. Gordon had many neighborhood buddies, you know who you are, and a very special friend, Georgia Ross and husband, Butch.
The family would like to thank the staff at Providence Hospice for their help and care and for calming our fears. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice.
