Gottfried "Jeff" Kolb, 79, of Waco, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Fiske officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Jeff was born August 14, 1931 in Phillipsburg, Kansas to Rev. Gottfried and Mrs. Karolina Kolb. He married Carol Riley, March 17, 1957. Jeff served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 54 years and served his church as Church Council President, Treasurer and as Sunday School Superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and three brothers.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Leann Williams and husband, Shapley, Jean Phillips and husband, Mark and Cynthia Rice and husband, Millard; his sister, Emma Kolb; grandchildren, Summer Tappmeyer, Katharine and Nick Nunley. Caroline Williams, Whitney, Tiffany, Spencer and Kelly Phillips and Ariana and Alessandra Rice; and great grandchildren, Joseph and Emily Phillips.

Pallbearers will be Whitney and Spencer Phillips, David Robinson, Terry and Tom Riley and Rick Wellbrock. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Symank and Bill Locklar.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Providence Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church, Caritas or the charity of your choice.
