Mr. Harry Treese, 72, of Woodway, passed away peacefully at his home on December 22, 2006.
Viewing will be Wednesday, Dec 27 from 8 am to 5 pm. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. Visitation with the family present will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home with the Rosary Service starting at 7 pm.
On Thursday, Dec 28, viewing will continue from 8 am to 1 p.m.. at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 9820 Chapel Road, in Hewitt with Father Rakshaganathan Selvaraj as celebrant.
Burial with military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Harry was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 11, 1934. He graduated from Brunswick High School in Brunswick Ohio and then joined the Air Force in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1959. He received his Associates
Degree in Business and Marketing.
Harry married Carol Zietlow in 1955 and they had three children. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where he worked in sales and marketing for KRDO and KRYT radio stations and KKTV television station.
In 1976 Harry joined the Thrifty Nickel/ American Classifieds organization in sales and management and was instrumental in helping open other Thrifty Nickel / American Classified papers across the country.
In 1988 Harry and Carol moved to Waco, Texas to assume ownership of the
Thrifty Nickel / American Classifieds and turned the paper into the successful business it is today.
All through his business career, Harry was involved in community organizations. In Colorado Springs, he worked with St. Vincent de Paul and Divine Redeemer church groups. After he moved to Waco, he was on the
Board of Directors of Caritas, the Chamber of Commerce and the Waco Symphony. He funded three houses for the Waco Habitat for Humanity and he helped start My Brothers Keeper Homeless Shelter with Mission Waco.
Harry is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter Diann (Jeff Wendl); sons, Chip (Dinell) and Steve (Lauri); grandchildren, Chris, Sandi, Nick, Krysta, Kyle and Ryan; and one great grandchild, Kaden.
He was a loving and devoted husband and a great dad and grandfather.
