Helen Walter Anderson, 92, of Waco, passed away December 25, 2010 at her residence. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Blackford officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
Helen was born March 8, 1918 near McGregor to Charlie and Mary (Plemons) Walter and she was the youngest, and last survivor, of 16 siblings. She married James Winston Anderson on September 2, 1939 in McGregor. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who loved all people and enjoyed doing things for everyone. Helen liked to care for her family, cooking, sewing, and entertaining them tirelessly. Helen loved to be outdoors, and she loved growing flowers. She was no stranger to hard work, and held several jobs including Jack & Jill Donuts, Piccadilly, Woolco and Marathon Battery. She was a faithful member of Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Mother especially favored Christmas, and her passing on Christmas Day seems a special honor for her wonderful, well-lived life. We will miss you dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings.
Helen is survived by three sons, James Arthur Anderson and wife, Cindy of Bedford, Eddie Lee Anderson of West, and David Winston Anderson and wife, Ann of Waco, and one daughter, Margaret Anderson Kramer of Lorena. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michele and Kyle Boles of Dallas, Denny and Deanne Kramer of Waco, Shawn and Paul Lee of Chandler, Ariz., Melisa and Carl Smith of Cypress, Stephen and Brandy Anderson of Dallas, Jennifer and David Collins of Dallas, Amy and Jessie Lopez of Georgetown, Jason and Nichole Anderson of Waco, Brandy and Brian Archdale of Wolfe Point, Mont., and Matthew and Alora Anderson of Clear Lake; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Jack Anderson and wife, Betty of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
