Herb was born in Waco,Tx, one of four children of Herbert K and Hazel Brenner. Most of his years were spent in Waco, Texas, with his parents, his sister, Shirley, and his brothers Robert and Greg. Herb married the love of his life, Ruth Payne, in February of 1965.
Herb’s love of music led him to the Navy from August of 1961 to August of 1967. He continued to pursue his love of music and sharing it with others as a music teacher and band director. He started teaching music in Pennsylvania before moving back to Texas. There he was a band director for many different schools including: Wiley Junior High (’71-’72), Tennyson Junior High (’72-’76), West Junior High (’76-’77), West High (’77-’79), Jefferson-Moore (’79-’87), Waco High (’87-’88), and China Spring High (’88-’97) where he retired.
Herb had many passions, including his love of travel and photography. He also loved playing World of Warcraft, which was introduced to him by a dear friend. Later in life one of his great joys was talking to his granddaughter, Maggie.
Preceding Herb in death was his wife, Ruth, parents, Herbert K and Hazel Brenner, son, Robert Christopher Brenner, sister, Shirley Estes, and brother, Robert Brenner.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Troy D Brenner and Alexandria (Kess) Brenner, granddaughter Margaret (Maggie) Glover-Brenner, brother and sister-in-law Greg and Becka Brenner. By marriage, also, Laurel Tackett and Nancy Payne, plus numerous nieces and nephews from both sides of the family, and “chosen” family Sam Ralston, Shelby Sudano, and Kevin Scott.
