OBITUARY

Herbert Harrington Payne, Sr., 88, of Waco, passed away Monday, July 11, 2005, in a Waco nursing center.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
A reception for family and friends will be held at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., following the burial.
Herbert was born June 16, 1917 in Waco to Otis Kendrick and Margaret (Deeley) Payne, and was proud to be a lifelong resident of Waco.
He operated Darwin Duplicating Co. in Waco for 33 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in England, France, and Germany. He was married May 6, 1944 to Lois Wanda Klint Payne, who preceded him in death in 2002. He recently received his 60 year pin as a Mason.
He is survived by his son, Herbert Harrington Payne Jr. and wife Rose of Sugarhill, Ga.; daughters, Carolyn Payne Lomax and husband, Jim of Woodway, and Peggy Payne Lowrie and husband, David of Bluff Dale; sister, Margaret Richardson of Waco; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Masonic Reading Program, %715 Columbus Ave., Waco, Texas 76701; Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, 1300 Columbus, Waco, TX 76701; or Hillcrest Hospice, 3000 Herring, Waco, TX 76708.
