Mary Hester Hutchinson, 94, of Waco passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at a local care center.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Chapel Hill with Kenneth Dodson officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Hester was born on June 7, 1912, in Bokchito, Oklahoma to JH and Mattie McCurley.
The youngest of 6 children, Hester was the daughter of an Oklahoma state senator.
She married Ted Hutchinson on Feb.14, 1931, and they spent 64 glorious years together. They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for 50 years. Hester earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Corpus Christi and master's degree from Kingsville A & I University. She was employed at Corpus Christi Independent School District as a classroom teacher and reading specialist, retiring after 35 years. She was the organist at Travis Avenue Baptist Church for 35 years. After retiring, Hester and Ted traveled the country in their recreational vehicle.
Hester was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted Hutchinson; a daughter, Jeri Lou Conway; a granddaughter, Kari Dulin Baker; and great granddaughter, Kassidy Baker.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Sue Dodson and husband, James of Waco; two grandsons, Ted Dodson of Thailand, and David Conway and wife, Kim of Houston; five granddaughters, Linda Dulin and husband, Jim Dulin of Waco, Nancy Lanham and husband, Chris of Waco, Kay Bailey and husband, Keith of Waco, Jennifer Biles and husband, Steve of Florida, and Debbie Probst and husband, Richard of Minnesota; 11 great- grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
