Hester Bradford Ramsey, Sr

Hester Bradford "Brad" Ramsey, Sr., passed away Thursday, August 18, at his residence. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Ramsey officiating. A private burial will be held later at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Brad, best known as the "Circuit Rider", was a pastor, evangelist, missionary, writer and humorist was born September 8, 1913 to Thomas "Papa" Bradford Ramsey and Ida Pearl McKinney Ramsey. Papa Ramsey was a one armed preacher. He and the family lived in 14 different places by the time Brad was 13 years old. Brad became a Christian when he was 11 years old in one of Papa's revival meetings. He spent the rest of his life committed to Jesus and following in Papa's footsteps by beginning his preaching ministry at the age of 17 when he preached his first sermon in Stith, Texas in 1930.
He attended Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth. He pastored various churches in South and Central Texas. Brad resided in Waco for the past 57 years. For several years, Brad served as the state Chaplain for the Texas Chapter of the Good Sam R.V. Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Laverne Brown Ramsey.
Brad is survived by his wife, Nancy Mitchell Ramsey; two sons, Brad Ramsey, Jr. and Thomas Ramsey; three grandsons, David, Sean and Jason Ramsey; three great grandchildren, Charles, Kayleigh and Bradford Ramsey; and step daughter, Debbie Quinn and husband, Ricky.
