Hortencia Mendieta

Hortencia M Mendieta, 79, of Waco, passed away Wednesday April 22, 2021. Hortencia was born in Waco, TX on February 25, 1942 to Santiago (Jim) and Modesta (Molly) Moreno. Funeral services will be 12pm Friday April 30, at Sacred Heart Church, 2621 Bagby Ave, Waco, Tx 76711. The family will receive visitors from 6-7pm Thursday April 29, at Oakcrest Funeral Home 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, TX 76710. Rosary will be at 7 p.m.

She was employed by Kestner’s Department Store for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and had a green thumb for plants. Cleaning was something she enjoyed whether it was her house or others.

Hortencia was preceded in death by her late husband Roberto Mendieta, her parents, brothers, Paul Moreno, Mike Moreno, Jim Moreno Jr, and Paul De la Rosa, one sister, Minnie Cummings, and uncles, Russel Molina, Julian Molina, Jesse Molina and Alfred Molina.

She is survived by one brother, Jesse Moreno; four sisters, Virginia Hernandez, Dorothy Tristen, Mary Hernandez and Janie Miller. Children, Robert Moreno, wife, Julie; Johnny Moreno, wife Maria; Raymond Moreno, Frances Rodriguez, husband Frank and Mary Helen Ramirez, husband Jose. 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Alex Moreno, John Paul Moreno, Ezequiel Ramirez, Patricio Rodriguez, Adrian Rodriguez and Manuel Hernandez.
