Howard Ross Davis, 85, of Waco passed away peacefully January 25, 2011. Funeral services will be 2p.m Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011. at OakCrest Funeral Home located at 4520 Bosque Blvd. A visitation with family will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Howard was born January 19, 1926 near Elk, and attended LaVega schools. He married Betty Padgett in 1948 and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. He was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and later he enjoyed going to music jams with his wife's bands. He was very proud of his American Indian heritage and had a large collection of arrowheads that he found in fields and some that he made.
As a salesman Howard sold plumbing, heating, and air conditioning equipment to contractors and won many awards as top salesman. He loved to make a deal. Howard always had a positive thought and smile. His family was always the most important aspect of his life.
Howard became a Christian and was baptized in 1950 and read the Bible daily. He was quiet publicly about his profound faith, but had a very deep love of Jesus Christ.
Howard was preceded in death by his father, Willie Ross Davis; his mother, Ida Thomas; and many dear close friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; daughter, who was the light of his life, Dawn Lynn and husband, Jeff Lynn; grandsons, Justin Davis Lynn and Colton Ross Lynn, both were special boys to him; and his sister, Margie Wright.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Justin Lynn and Colton Lynn, and James Sherman, Don Nichols, James Klein, Kenneth Weaver. JR. Mott will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
