Ida Redden
May 21, 1929 - August 24, 2012
Ida J. Redden, 83, of Waco, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 surrounded by her family. A
Memorial Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 28 at St. Louis Catholic Church with
Father Justin Nguyen officiating.
Ida was born May 21, 1929 in rural McLennan County (Tours, Texas) to Arnold,Sr and Agnes
(Straten) Kasberg. She graduated from West High School and Four C Business College in
Waco, Texas. Ida met the love of her life, John Wesley Redden, Jr., and the couple married
May, 20, 1951 in St. Martin's Church in Tours. Ida spent 35 dedicated years at First Federal
Savings & Loan where she served lastly as Senior Vice President. She had been a member of the
Waco community for over 59 years, and she often dedicated much of her time to others.
Ida was a member of the Lady's of Charity, and she regularly sacrificed her time to help
others. She always put the needs of others first over her own. She loved to call Bingo at St.
Elizabeth Place, and enjoyed visiting with residents and patients who lived at Providence
Park. But Ida was also very devoted to her faith and family. She cherished her time with her
grandchildren and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Ann Redden; and sister, Rosie Lucien.
Ida is survived by her husband of over 61 years, John Wesley, Jr; daughter, Sharon McCauley,
and husband, David; their sons, Austin and Travis, all of Hewitt; daughter, Carolyn Redden, of
Hickory Creek; sister, Annie Terry, of Waco; brother, Arnold Martin Kasberg, of Leroy; and
many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to especially thank the EMS and Providence ER doctors and staff for their
exceptional care and compassion for their beloved Ida as well as Dr. Chakmakjian and his staff
at Texas Oncology.
In lieu of flowers, Ida requested that memorials may be made to the Greater Dallas Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF Greater Dallas Chapter, 9400 N. Central Expressway,
Suite 1201, Dallas, TX, 75231.
