Irene Baker

Irene Baker, 82, of Waco, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel. A priviate family interment service will follow at the Crawford Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Irene was born April 17, 1928 in Coryell County to Walter Lee Bates and Edith Mae Bankhead Bates. She worked for Montgomery Ward for over 34 years before being employed at Big B Tire Company on the Waco traffic circle. She was a long time member of Shiloh Baptist Church and most recently a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ray Baker; her second husband, Raymond Baker; her son, David Baker; and her grandson, Damon Blakely.

Irene is survived by her daughters, Connie Davis of Waco, Linda Valentine of Crawford and Nickie Blakely of Houston and their spouses; numerous grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
