OBITUARY

Irene Warren Coker, 82, of Waco passed away on Monday, February 21, 2005 at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 am Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Durham and the Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating.
Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial DVD of her life will be shown.
Mrs. Coker was born September 5, 1922 in Robertson County near Hearne to Dean and Mae (Tyler) Warren. The family moved to San Saba a year later and to Comanche when Irene entered high school. She graduated from Comanche High School in May 1940.
On December 21, 1940, Irene married F. D. Coker. They moved to Waco in 1947. After his death in 1973, she worked for several years for local insurance agencies.
From 1979 until her retirement in 1993, she worked as a bookkeeper for Crozier's Flowers. Irene loved her family, church, and the Lady Bears Basketball team.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years, but for the past several years has been a member of Columbus Ave. Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Irene's parents, brother, Buddie Warren and sister, Marjorie Ray, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, J. Ronald Coker and wife, JoAnn of Rochester, NY; David M. Coker and wife, Gail of Waco; grandsons, Alan Coker and wife, Dawn of Rochester, NY and Jeff Coker of Lake Worth, TX; granddaughters, Ami Coker and Suzy Coker of Dallas, and Allison Coker of Waco; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Katie, and Paige of Rochester, NY; sister, Pauline Claunch and husband, Alex of Conroe; brother Jimmie Warren and wife, Anne of Comanche; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ken Brittain, Rob Granberry, Les Marshall, Roy Roberts, Bob Luiken, Bill Harlan, Lowell Shead and Dewayne Weatherford.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the loving and caring staff of Royal Manor Health Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.
