Irene Helen Regalado, 84, of Waco died Saturday. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary will be recited 6pm Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by a visitation with the family.


Irene was born in Bardwell, Texas to Feliciano Rodriguez and Otila Balli Rodriguez. She married Cresencio Regalado October 26, 1949 in Dallas.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Alfonso, Federico Rodriguez and Reuben Rodriguez; sisters Lois Garcia and Uvelia Hernandez.

Mrs. Regalado is survived by daughters Lupe Olivas, Rose Sanchez, Delores Melendez and husband Ralph, son Ray Regalado; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, sisters Olivia Rodriguez from Spring, Tx. and Ella Steavel, from California.

Irene was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to be outside and loved to take walks and care for her flowers. She had a big heart and cared for all 12 of her grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Everyone knew her as "Granny." She was active at her church, St. Francis Catholic for many years but in her latter years she attended St. Louis Catholic Church. She also attended Amistad Baptist with her family, and did many activities at First Baptist Waco with the Senior Adult program. She taught her family to love and obey God. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her and she overcame her illness when she entered the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ in heaven. Thanks to all who kept her in prayer and a sincere thanks to her granddaughter Laura Rodriguez, and her son Ray Regalado, who together gave her 24 hour care.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris & Michael Olivas, David Jr. & Jose Sanchez, Ethan Rodriguez, Kevin Dawson and family friend Randy Rozell.
