Irwin Delbert "D" McCarty, 87, of Waco passed away on July 27, 2004 at a local care center on the date of his 66th wedding anniversary.
Services are 2:00pm Friday at First United Methodist Church, 4901 Cobbs with Wayne Williams officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Apache, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
"D" McCarty was born on December 29, 1916, in Ethel, Oklahoma to Delbert and Julia (Taylor) McCarty. He graduated from the Apache Oklahoma High School and the Blackwood-Davis Business College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He married Margaret "Meg" Dennis, July 27, 1938 in Oklahoma City and had two sons, Gerald "Jerry" and Michael McCarty. His son, Jerry preceded him in death.
"D" is survived by his wife Meg McCarty, son, Michael McCarty and wife RuAnna of Oklahoma City, Ok; grandchildren, David and Karlene McCarty of Oklahoma City, Ok, John and Amber McCarty of Castle Rock, CO, JuliAnna and Steve Brown of Parker, CO and Taylor McCarty, of Oklahoma City, OK; great-grandchildren, Mara, Jonah, Connor and Corrine.
He enlisted in the Army during World War II, completed Officer's training and served briefly in the Southwest Pacific and was discharged in 1946 as a First Lieutenant.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #337, a 32-degree mason in Scottish Rites and was a member of Sojourners International.
