Amos was born on July 2, 1957 in Gatesville, TX to Victor Galindo Rogers and Theresa Ledesma Rogers. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his enlistment, he was stationed in Camp Pendleton and Okinawa, Japan. While serving in the military, Amos learned his trade as an aircraft mechanic that would later become his passion. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in September 1983.
He began his career as an aircraft mechanic with Elsenor, and later worked and retired from ABX Air after 25+ years in January 2021. After a years’ time, Amos decided to go back to work for ABX Air as a contract mechanic traveling wherever he was needed. His favorite assignment was in the Rio Grande Valley. Amos loved his line of work. He could tell you everything about Boeing 767 aircraft. His motto was “If you love what you do, you will never have to work a day in your life”.
Amos was a true family man. His three beautiful granddaughters were his entire world. They could always count on “Pops” being there when he wasn’t working. His love for classic automobiles was evident. If he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, you could find him on the water in his pontoon, cruising the country backroads on his Harley, camping at Lake Waco in his RV, or hanging out with his friends. He loved to travel, often visiting South Padre Island and Progresso, Mexico. Anytime Amos was in the Rio Grande Valley, he would faithfully visit the Basillca of our Lady of San Juan del Valle in San Juan, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Galindo Rogers; brothers, Victor Raymond Rogers and Rudolph (Rudy) Andrew Rogers; and nephew, Randy Rogers.
He is survived by his son, Amos Rogers and wife, Erika; daughters, Amanda Rogers and husband, Donnie, and Angelica Garcia and husband, Ruben; granddaughters, Janessa and Mariah Garcia, and Kennedy Bible; mother, Theresa Ledesma Rogers; brother, Johnny Rogers; sister, Janie Ramon; sister-in-law, Ester Rogers; numerous nieces and nephews; companion, Yolanda; and close friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the McClinton Cancer Center and Baylor Scott & White Hospice for providing excellent care during such a difficult time.
