J. Quincy Holmes, 90, of Hewitt, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2004, in a Waco hospital.

[b]Services[/b]
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Hewitt United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Mang officiating.

Graveside services will full military honors will follow the services.

[b]Visitation[/b]
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque (right across the street from the Heart of Texas Fair Complex). A memorial video of his life will be shown continuously during the visitation.

[b]Personal Life[/b]
Quincy was born October 12, 1913, in Orleans, Neb., to John Quincy and Amy Pearl (Beatty) Holmes. He was commissioned in the U.S. Army Corps of Military Police in 1940 and served for 22 years. He married Geraldine Gott on November 6, 1943, in San Francisco. He was a member of Hewitt United Methodist Church.

He was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors, and served as lieutenant governor in 1991-1992. He was a member of the Fidelis Lodge Waco Scottish Rite Body, Waco Chapter of Sojourners.

[b]Survivors[/b]
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Holmes; a son, John Quincy Holmes III and wife, Doreen, of Bayfield, Col., and a daughter, Donna Kaye Baudoin, and husband, James, of Columbus, Ga., and two grandsons, John (Jake) Quincy Holmes IV of Colorado Springs, and David James Baudoin of Columbus, Ga.

[b]Pallbearers[/b]
Pallbearers will be members of the Kiwanis family.

[b]Memorials[/b]
Memorials may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Waco Seniors or the Hewitt United Methodist Church.
