James Porter Williams, 70, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Services will begin at 12 noon, September 20, 2014 with a Visitation prior to a 1 p.m. Memorial Service with Rev.Richard Ellis officiating, music sung by The Heavenly Jubilee Choir, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
James Porter Williams was born August 23, 1944 to Fred and Edith Williams in Los Angeles, CA. Porter graduated from Mary Carroll Highschool and would go on to attend the Texas Christian University and make his presence known as “one of the best football players ever...” as said by then Coach Abe Martin and also received his B.A. Degree from TCU. Porter loved playing golf with his buddies Keith Powell, Dr. Sam Ralston, P. Michael Smith, Doug Ferdon, Tom Kelly, Dale Dickenson, Jarrod Dickenson, Jim Bowen and Brent Hubbel. He also enjoyed attending TCU football games with his former TCU teammates, Kent Nix and wife, Susan, Jim Nayfa and wife, Ann, Frank Horak and wife, Sharlene, Sonny Campbell and wife, Pam, and Steve Russell and wife, Barbara. Porter loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edith Williams; sister, Maunell Williams.
He is survived by his daughters, Jamie Harris and husband, Herb, Whitney Rogers, Taylor Williams and her mother, Katherine Gullett; granddaughter, Kaleigh Harris; grandsons, Jacob Harris, and one on the way.
