Jack Cash

Jack Robert Cash, 86, took his final breath Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016. No day could have been more fitting for him be reunited with his resurrected Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom Jack devoted his late-teen and entire adult life to serving.

Jack was born October 18, 1929 in Wichita Falls, Texas to William Newton and Myrtle Clyde Jordan Cash. He attended Baylor University, where he majored in Religion and met the love of his life, Elizabeth Jean Campbell. They married August 1, 1952, and moved to Fort Worth, where Jack attended Southwestern Seminary.

Jack genuinely loved people, spending more than half of his career as a full time pastor in various Baptist churches across Texas including Deer Creek Baptist, First Baptist Church of Bracketville, Wood Avenue Baptist in Raymondville, First Baptist of Sabinal, and Conway Avenue Baptist in Mission. In 1977, he and his family moved to Waco, where Jack worked for Word, Inc. and pastored part-time.

Jack lived humbly and loved generously. His compassion, kindness and humor touched all who knew him. He loved hunting and sports, and couldn’t resist a game of cards or dominoes. Participating in the Baylor Senior Choir, as well as a men’s quartet, brought him great pleasure.

Jack Robert Cash is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Campbell Cash, his sister, Margaret Cash, and two brothers, Floyd and William Cash. He is survived by children, Jack Robert Cash, Jr. of Waco; Wesley Campbell Cash and wife, Julie, of Waco; and Ginger Cash Etcheson and husband, Steve, of Mahomet, Illinois. Jack was Pa Pa to grandchildren, Andy Cash, Ben Cash, Jennifer Huffman and husband John and great-grandchildren, A.J., Hannah, Coby, and Guerlin Huffman of Burleson.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas 76710, with Chris Wommack officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanford Chapel Cemetery on Chapel Road. A time of remembering celebration is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. March 30th at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Andy Cash, Ben Cash, Steve Etcheson, John Huffman, A.J. Huffman, Coby Huffman, Guerlin Huffman and Silas Nacita.

The family thanks Uni Murphy and Southern Comfort Hospice for the tender care they gave Jack during his final days.
