James Edward Chalkley, 84, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at St. Catherine's.
Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, with Lon Jones officiating. Visitation with his family will follow the service.
He was born March 12, 1921 in Mart to Emery Wallace Chalkley, Sr. and Ola Mann Chalkley. James graduated from Mart High School in 1938 and had degrees in business law and accounting from Four C Business College.
James was employed by the General Office of William Cameron and Co. on January 2, 1940 and worked for five different employers, retiring from Boise Casade on December 31, 1985.
He took a leave of absence for 3 and a half years, July 7, 1942 to January 16, 1946, to serve in the Air Force during World War II.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Emery Wallace Chalkley; and sister, Jewel Mayfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ellen; his son, U.S. Air Force Lt Col. James E. Chalkley II and wife, Pam and their children, Christopher, Nicholas and Patrick of Piedmont, SD; daughter, Donna Marie Forsythe and husband, Allan of San Antonio and their children, David of San Antonio, and Bryan and wife, Kate, and their son, Brennan of Coppell.
At his request, he was cremated.
