James Cheyne

James Cheyne, 65, of Copperas Cove, died Monday, March 3. Cremation was arranged through OakCrest Funeral Home.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 8, at First Baptist Church, 300 West Ave. B, Copperas Cove, with Rev. Mark Kemp officiating.

James was raised in Kent County and served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. After retiring from the Army, he moved to Copperas Cove and remained there until his death.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Cheyne; father, Joe Cheyne; and older brother, Olen Roy "Biddy Boy" Cheyne, all of Jayton.

He is survived by three daughters, Brandy Cheyne of Mara Vista, NM, Vanessa Thomas and Lashonna Ruth Cheyne, both of Arizona City, AZ; soul mate and special companion, Carolyn Conway and her children, Kathy Jackson, Tracy Richardson, Tim Conway, Kim Conway of Copperas Cove, Dave Conway of Brenham, and Robin McTarty of Killeen; 20 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
