James (Jim) Frederick Clark, 87, of Waco passed away on Friday, February 8, 2008. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday February 11, at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. There will be no visitation.

Jim was born in Rittman, Ohio to William James and Ida Ruth (Frederick) Clarke. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He served with 21st Weather Squadron APO 696 and was trained at James Connally Air Force Base. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the EAME Campaign medal with 5 bronze stars, American Defense Services Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was a Baylor University graduate and worked as a salesman for Jim Phipps Memorial and Montgomery Ward. Later he was a homebuilder, land negotiator for the Texas Highway Department, and Real Estate appraiser for the Brazos River Authority and the Veteran's Administration.

He married Ruth King on November 3, 1942 in Waco and they recently celebrated their 65th year of marriage. He was devoted to this family, and will be greatly missed. He was an accomplished pianist who enriched his family's and neighbors lives. He was a bird fancier who will be missed by his African Grey parrot, Smokie, and his purple martins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a baby daughter who died September 13, 1955.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Carolyn Stipe and husband Bill, Jan LaGrone and husband John, and Judith Scrivner and husband Randy; brother Vernon Clarke; sisters Ann Marie Willams, Vivian Ramsier, and a sister-in-law, Donna Hunyar and her husband, Bob.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jim Stipe and wife Lisa, John Stipe, Sam Stipe, Ella Ann LaGrone, Susan Scrivener Russell and husband Rusty, Paul Scrivner, Katherine Scrivner, Robert Scrivner, and Margaret Scrivner.

The family extends special thanks to friends and the caring staff of St. Elizabeth's, St. Catherine's, Mrs. Jane Dudgeon, and his physicians, especially Dr. Gary Barbin.
