James (Jim) Davis, 91, of Waco, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm, Tuesday, April 7, 2015 with a Memorial Service following at 2 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., with Rev. Stephen Ramsdell officiating with Jim Miller. Jim will be interred at the Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis, TX, next to his mother.

Jim was born in Ellis County to James Henry and Mattie Eula Meharg Davis, June 28, 1923. Jim graduated from high school in Ennis, TX. Jim was in the Army Air Force and part of the June 6th invasion of Europe. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas and his Master’s Degree from the University of Texas. Jim taught at University High School in Waco for many years as an English Teacher. He also taught many years at Mclennan Community College in the evenings and summer. Jim retired in 1982.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Graves Davis; his parents, and his brother, J.N. Davis.

Jim is survived by his nieces and nephews, Virginia Lothlen and husband, Billy, Carol Tindell and husband, Donald, Paul Davis, W.R. Davis and wife, Cindy, Howard Davis, Don Davis and wife, Joy, and Mike Davis.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Providence Hospice and Dr. Michael Stones and staff for providing excellent care during Jim’s last days.

In lieu of flowers, donations/memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
