James "Jim" Phillip Eubank, 74, of Waco, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016, at his residence. Visitation with his family will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas.
Jim was born in Longview, Texas on July 11, 1941. He was the fourth child, and the second son, of James Mark and Jessie (McCown) Eubank. Jim grew up in Kilgore where he graduated from Kilgore High School in 1959. He attended Kilgore College where he met the love of his life, Kay Taylor. They were married May 9, 1964.
Jim worked for his brother, Marcus, in his air-conditioning business, Eubank Manufacturing, in Kilgore until he moved to Waco in 1967. At that time he joined Dealers Electrical Supply as a warehouse worker. When he left the company, he had worked his way up to vice president of sales. After leaving Dealers, he was involved in several business ventures, including Eubank Air Conditioning, KE Electric Supply and E & G Realty. From 1992 until he retired, Jim owned and operated Waco Cycle Salvage.
Drag racing was his passion. Jim spent countless hours building and racing cars. Nothing made him happier than spending time with friends and family in the
"shop" or at the track. He and Kay also enjoyed building and showing street rods. Jim was an animal lover, and he leaves behind his two "spoiled" dogs, Belle and Pepper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joann and Marcus Eubank, and Leah Ashford; and in-laws, Bert and Esther Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay Eubank; son, Jimmy Eubank and wife, Amy, and their children, Ashley and Brandon; daughter, Jennifer Eubank and children, Taylor, Tori and Tara; brothers-in-law, Donnie Kimmel and wife, Ann and Robert Taylor and wife, Tina; sister-in-law, Sue Eubank; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Waco Humane Society.
