The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Jim was born May 18, 1946 in Waco the son of JD "Pokey" Farley and Mana Fay Farley. He graduated from Richfield High School and attended Tarleton State. Jim was part owner of Southside Motors located on South Valley Mills Drive for the last 30 years. He was also an excellent carpenter and custom built several homes locally and designed and built one of a kind furniture. Jim was the king of horse traders and we was known to say he was the last of the dinosaurs because he was a true gentleman to everyone he knew. He would always say he was "old school". Jim would get upset with Vicki if she ever tried to open a door. He knew that was his job as he would often say. Jim and Vicki would hang out every Friday night at Applebee's. They would meet with their wonderful group of friends and have a "few" cold ones together. The staff at Applebee's became their friends too. They all knew their names and greeted them with hugs. On Saturdays, Jim and Vicki were regulars at the HEB on Wooded Acres where they made many friends and loved the great staff at HEB.
Jim never met a stranger, spoke to everyone he came in contact with and was a true practical joker. Jim was gifted in that he always had a smile and a firm handshake for everyone. He made people feel special and would leave a smile on your face. He was a wonderful cook and was known for his barbeque and his amazing stew that would take him all night to prepare. Jim loved to tinker with things and loved Sudoku and crossword puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his niece, Diane Ogden.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Vicki of Waco; his sister, Barbara Atkinson of Rockport; step daughters, Kim Mills-Henry of China Spring and Tara Kruger of Hewitt; step grandchildren, Elizabeth Mills, Marshall Mills and Elaine Henry of China Spring; mother in law, Betty Baggett of Waco; sister in laws, Sharon Baggett of Waco, Twila Leshikar and husband, Larry of Hewitt and Deedra Baggett of Waco; brother in law, Gary Baggett and wife, Linda of Hewitt; and niece, Amanda Leshikar of Hewitt.
