Butch Hightower

James Clifton "Butch" Hightower 59, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2011.

Butch was born to the late Virgil Hightower and the late Nancy Freeman Crain on September 12, 1951, in Henderson, Texas.

An avid outdoorsman, he fell in love with the Lake Whitney area and has called it home for 25 years. He loved camping and fishing. Nothing excited him more than pulling up a big catfish on a trot line, except maybe the fish fry that would soon follow.

He enjoyed providing fish fries for his family and friends. It brought a smile to his face to see a family member or friend reaching into the brown paper bag to "sneak" a sample of his delicious fish!

He loved the country lifestyle and all that it entailed including gardening and having the privilege of owning a variety of pets including: "Thomas" the turkey, "Angel" the deer, and "Gladys" the hog.

Butch had a passion for semi trucks, especially Peterbilts that were bright, shiny and covered in chrome and chicken lights. He made a career of driving them until retiring in 2009. Roll on "Butch Cassidy"...

He was proceeded in death by his parents, a son Bobby C. Hightower, and a son-in-law Johnny Huggins.

Survivors include a brother Bobby N. Hightower of Soldotna Alaska; son, Brandon Hightower and wife Krissi; two daughters, Belinda Huggins and Brandy Hightower and daughter-in-law Deanna Hightower, all of Whitney; two younger sons, Christian and Noah and mom Heather, of New Summerfield, Texas; Grandchildren, JT, Kati, Dillon, Bailee, Gage, Jonathon, Kena, Dawson, and Jacob, nd numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial will be held in East Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.

Cremation as arranged through OakCrest Funeral Home, Waco, Texas.
