James Teddy Hupp, 75, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at his home in Golinda, Texas. Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, with Dr. Buddy Sipe and Pastor Frank D. Linton officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, August 22, at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Jim was born February 2, 1936 in Lowell, Ohio, to Ted and Lucille (Bauer) Hupp. Jim joined the Air Force at age 18 and later was stationed at Connally Air Force Base in Waco, where he met the love of his life, Evelyn West, in the summer of 1956. Jim and Evelyn were married February 7, 1957 at Lacy-Lakeview Baptist Church. Both were active members of Cottonwood Baptist.
Jim worked 20 years for Davis Brothers Publishing Company, retiring in 1998. After retiring, Jim worked part-time for Robinson School District in the groundskeeping and maintenance department.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Ted Hupp; and a son, Jonathan Burk Hupp.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, Mark Hupp and wife, Beth; daughter, Pamela Joan Leddy; three grandchildren, Mark Hupp II, Miranda Leddy, and Kaleb Elijah Leddy, along with a special friend, Josh Waley; sisters-in-law, Faye West and husband Les, Helen Scungio and Dot West. Jim's mother, Lucille (Bauer) Hupp, and brother, Roger Hupp, also survive him, along with beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Hacker, Art Hansen, Jeremy Neal, David Reed, Mike Seiler and Johnny Walker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Wise Men's Class at Cottonwood Baptist Church.
Our thanks go to Bluebonnet Hospice and Texas Home Health for their tender care during his final weeks. A special thanks to our Christian friends who lovingly cared for Jim at home until he died.
