James Johnson

James Edward Johnson Sr., 63, of Waco, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family Friday, November 6, 2009. Service will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., with the Rev. Ron Hill officiating.

James was born in Louisville, Ky., and spent most of his life in Fort Worth as an electrician and general contractor. He knew something about everything and loved to share it. He had a big heart and will be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Gladys (Murphy) Johnson; sister, Betty Canon; and two brothers, Noah Johnson and Lonnie Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kelly Kays Johnson; son, James Johnson Jr.; six daughters, Darlene Johnson, Tammy Havens, Amber Martinez, Jamie Johnson, Rebecca Kays, and Sarah Johnson; nine grandchildren, Branden Johnson, Melanie Wallace, Shandin Havens, Travis DeLeon, James (Trey) Johnson III, Dakoda Havens, Joshua Johnson, Christian Martinez, and Paiton Welch; great grandson, Lucas Lykins; eleven brothers and sisters, Charles Johnson, Glen Johnson Jr., Doris Russell, Dante Johnson, Helen Brown, Johnny Johnson, Jeanette Nichols, Connie Baker, Dorothy Mooney, Michelle Johnson, and Jackie Mitchell, and many special nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the staff of Bluebonnet Hospice and OakCrest Funeral Home for their care.
