James Adair Linton, 75, of Waco, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011 at Providence Medical Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Joseph F. Geleney, Jr. as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by visitation with the family starting at 6:30 p.m.
Jim was born in Carlisle to John M. and Lola (Allen) Linton. He served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from East Texas State University with a degree in Economics.
He had a long career with the federal government in banking and finance, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 1358, and Assembly 1109.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim is survived by his wife, Gloria Scoggins Couch Linton; two sons, Kenneth Lee Linton and wife, Belen, of Dallas, and Patrick Allen Linton of Bryan; step-son, Steven Couch and wife, Katherine of St. Louis, Mo.; step-daughter, Susanne Couch Wills and husband, Mike of Fulton, Mo.; brother, John Robert Linton and wife, Faye of Huntsville, Texas;grandchildren, Rockton Tyler Linton, Margot Simone Linton, Evan Couch, Austin Couch, Courtney Couch, Alyssa Wills, and Jacob Wills.
The Knights of Columbus will serve as honor guard and pallbearers.
The family would especially like to thank all the caregivers at Providence Medical Center, especially the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic.
