Mr. James F. Nash, Sr., 84, of Speegleville passed away early Friday morning, December 13, 2002, at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at Rosemound Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Patterson of the Western Heights Baptist Church officiating.
Mr. Nash will lie in state at OakCrest Funeral Home beginning Monday morning, and visitation with the family will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
PERSONAL LIFE
Mr. Nash was born November 17, 1918 in Wichita Falls to Roy and Maud (Steele) Nash. He was united in marriage to Clara Evelyn DeSelm on Dec. 31, 1940.
He served in the US Navy.
Mr. Nash was a member of the Western Heights Baptist Church in Waco. James and Clara had been in the Waco area since the summer of 1957. Mr. Nash was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge 92 in Waco.
He is remembered as a very happy, uplifting person who was devoted to his family.
PROFESSIONAL LIFE
He worked in the insurance industry, spending over 40 years with Equifax, Inc. In 1980, he joined National Lloyds Insurance Co. in Waco and was in their Property and Casualty Claims Department when he retired in 1985.
HAM RADIO
He was an active ham radio operator, and his call sign was N5OAC. He was a volunteer examiner who was responsible for licensing many hams in the area.
SURVIVORS
He is survived by his son, James Nash, Jr. of Marble Falls, and a grandson, James Nash III of Richardson.
Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Nash, in December of 1965 and Clara, his wife of 61 years, on March 9, 2001. He will be buried next to her.
