James Sexton

James Roland Sexton, 67, of Hewitt, passed away December 31, 2012 at his residence with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home with burial following at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Mr. Sexton was born August 21, 1945 to Jerry and Gladys Sexton. He grew up in Waco, Texas and graduated from University High School. Mr. Sexton retired from Texas Farm Bureau after thirty four years of service.

He loved to fish, hunt, and collect guns, knives, and guns. His family was the upmost importance to him as he loved spending time with them. Mr. Sexton was a member of Faith Temple Baptist Church.

Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, James Roland Sexton Jr. on December 4, 2011.

He is survived by his wife of forty one years, Marilyn Sexton; daughters, Sherry Sexton and Stacey Sexton Dawson and husband, Jack both of Lorena; daughter in law, Midge Sexton of Axtell; two surrogate sisters, Carolyn Goodwin and Darlene and Ted Strickland ; grandchildren, Ashley, Lewis, Rachel, Justin, Zackary, Maci, Jeren, and J. and four great grandkids.

Pallbearers will be Jack Dawson, Lewis Russell, Willie Strickland, Curtis Brown, Shawn Pullin, Joe Bob Brown and John Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers are Zack Dawson, Justin Sexton, Ted Strickland, Charles Goodwin, Rick Sexton, Larry Sexton, Ron Herbelin, and Ronnie Vrba.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richie and the Bluebonnet Hospice Staff Lori, Jessica, Brandi, Stacy, and Ron and the hospice volunteers.
