Jane was born on November 10, 1932 in Denison, Texas to Basil Henry Thomson and Aletha Lucile Thomson in the home of her maternal grandparents, Mary Irvin and Robert Marshall Noe, a pharmacist. Her paternal grandparents, Martha Lena and John Benjamin Thomson, lived in Whiteright and worked as a seamstress and a cattleman and meat purveyor.

Jane was raised in Amarillo and Waco, Texas, where her father was an accountant for the State of Texas. She graduated from Waco High School in 1951 and from Baylor University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.

In 1953, she met Aaron Lee Thomas on a blind date arranged by Jane’s sister, Sue. Their courtship continued as Aaron completed his tour of duty in Japan. They were married in 1954 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Waco and started their life together. Jane taught elementary school for more than 20 years in the Waco and Midway Independent School Districts.

Jane and Aaron raised three sons within the teachings of the Word of God. She encouraged her sons to pursue lifelong goals and to walk with the Lord, so they could raise their families within the church as involved and active members. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church Waco. She often volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and was instrumental in creating the Children’s Building and overseeing its curriculum. Her sons remember her as a passionate mother full of joy, love, and spunk. Jane saw the best in everyone regardless of the situation.
