Jane Volker

Jane came into the world in the midst of six feet of snow, born February 7, 1914 in Elmira, New York to Charles M. and Mary (Steigmeier) Volker.

She lived in Elmira until 1990, when she moved to Texas to live with her family. The angels helped Jane travel peacefully home to her Heavenly Father on Monday May 21, 2007 following a brief but spirited struggle after a heart attack and stroke.

Her passing was marked by a tempestuous thunder and lightning storm, perhaps her way of letting us know she made it home.

Jane's life was dedicated to serving her family and taking care of others. She was always there for everyone.

If friends or family came to visit, Jane wouldn't rest until she was sure their plates were overflowing and glasses filled. She hovered and nurtured, always putting others' needs before her own.

The gifts Jane leaves are a quick wit, faith, practicality, generosity and a lifetime of special memories. She loved Texas Rangers baseball and all animals, especially dogs.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister Mary and brother-in-law Stanley Stachowski and sister Margaret.

She is survived by niece and nephew-in-law Nancy and Joe D'Ambrosio of Waco, TX and great niece and great nephew-in-law Allison and Jamie Bones of Litchfield Park, AZ as well as several special cousins and dear family friends.

Arrangements are by Oak Crest Funeral Home, Waco, TX.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday June 2, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Mark Deering as celebrant.
