Janie Nielsen

Janie Ruth Rook Nielsen, 90, of Waco went to be with her maker on July 23, 2006. Graveside services will be 10:30 am Wednesday,
July 26, 2006 with the Rev. Ivan Ker officiating in Bosqueville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
She was born May 13, 1916 in Bosqueville, Texas to Urban and Ruth Porter Rook and in her early years helped her family operate Rook Dairy, delivering milk throughout the Waco Area. She attended Bosqueville Schools where her Grandmother Hayden Price Porter was Superintendent of Schools and she then graduated from Baylor University and participated as a member of the Baylor women's tennis team.
As owner of Nielsen Bookkeeping Service, Janie made many friends and always had a kind word for everyone. Previously she worked at American Income Life Insurance Company and Lattimer Bookkeeping Service. She was a past member of the Women's Bowling Association, Altrusa Club and serveral professional organizations and she always enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Leland and Bill Rook. She is survived by her sister Margaret Inmon, nieces Eddie Dulak Massey , Neta Faye Hall , Barbara Fertitta, Mary Rook, Pat Chase, and Sue Ellen Cutbirth, nephews Richard Rook, Mike Inmon, and Charles Rook, numerous great nieces and nephews and special longtime friends Jessie and J.B. Sykes, Valera Labit, and Margaret Lattimer. She holds a special place in the hearts of her great niece and nephew Gabrielle and Christopher Massey who have wonderful memories of times with their Aunt Janie.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Rook, Christopher Massey, Kevin Davis, Steve Massey, Don Hall, and Dale Evans.
