Jason Edward Shiller, 33, of College Station formerly of Lorena, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with burial following the service at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with Jason’s family will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Jason, son of Donna and Bill Shiller and brother of Annie Shiller, was born October 20, 1979 in Waco. Jason attended Lorena schools where he played many sports among those his favorite was football. He graduated from Lorena High School in 1998. He was also a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Waco where he was baptized in February 1997. Jason was currently living in College Station.
He was a dedicated employee as a sales consultant for Derek Scott’s Auto Park in Hearne since 2007. While employed at Derek Scott Auto Park, Jason had earned the General Motors “Mark of Excellence” Award for several years in a row in recognition for his professionalism and knowledge of General Motors vehicles. In his spare time, Jason loved working out and had recently earned his personal trainer’s certification so that he could encourage and help others. No description of Jason would be complete without mentioning his enjoyment of all sports and sporting teams from the Lorena Leopards to the Aggies to the Colts, especially anything that included Peyton Manning!
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Helma Bohne Parrish and Earl Bohne of Gatesville; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Shiller of Waco; and his uncle, Robert Bohne of Hewitt.
Before his love of sports, however, came Jason’s love for his family. He is survived by his parents, Donna and Bill Shiller and his very special sister, Annie all of Lorena. Jason is also survived by his paternal grandfather, Edward Shiller of Waco; his aunt and uncles, Glenda and Gene Wolske of Gatesville, Pam Bohne of Hewitt, John and Nita Shiller of Houston and Debbie and Jeff Christian of The Colony; cousins, Rachel Bohne Caldera, Chris and Brad Shiller and Whitney, Rachel and Jessica Christian; numerous friends and his beloved dog, Shoe.
In lieu of floral arrangements and because Jason had such a love of animals, his desire would have been to direct any memorials in his memory to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, 6321 Airport Road Waco, TX 76708
