Jearldine Adams, 86, of Waco, passed away April 18, 2013. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 315 Cleveland St., McGregor, with burial in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Jearldine was born February 3, 1927 to Sam Jones and Lillie Mae Perkins in Leon County. She attended public school in Leon County . Jearldine accepted Christ at an early age, and she remained a faithful member until she moved to McGregor.
Upon moving, she united with the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral of Rev. Clark. As a member, Jearldine also lent her service to the choir ministry. In later years, Jearldine moved to Dallas, Texas and continued serving in a church in the community. Jearldine believed in serving the Lord in whichever community she resided.
Jearldine married Jimmie Lee Adams, and two children were born of this union. While living in Dallas, she was employed at Sunshine Cleaners.
In later years, Jearldine returned to McGregor, and reunited with Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Jearldine was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She taught her children to always put God first in whatever they do in life. Her favorite Scripture verse was, “Spare the rod, spoil the child”, and she made sure they knew it.
On Thursday, April 18, 2013, God called her to come on home and take her rest. Her survivors include son, Jimmie Adams, of Los Angeles, California and daughter, Loretta Oliver and husband, Calvin E. Oliver Sr., of Waco, Texas. She is also survived by one sister, Ethel Sandal and one brother, Sam Jones, Jr., both of Normangee, Texas. Jearldine is also survived by five grandchildren: Lachinda Oliver of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Calvin Oliver, Jr. of Hewitt, Texas; Livia Oliver of Waco, Texas; Ramona S. Berry of San Diego, California; Lorelei Oliver and husband Jimmy Street of Los Angeles, California; eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and host of relatives and loved ones.
