Jerry Rudolph Dolezal Sr., 90, of Waco, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 at his residence after fighting a valiant lengthy battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Van Vowel officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 10, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Jerry was born August 12, 1919 in Dime Box, Texas and was the son of Rudolph Fred Dolezal and Frances Turecek Dolezal. He married Ruth Miller March 28, 1939. He worked as a civil worker at Connally Airbase, and then worked at Trautschhold Mill until he began his own Body shop business and new car dealership in Gatesville, Texas. He later retired and moved to Waco.
Jerry was a longtime member of Grace Temple Baptist Church in Waco and an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rudolph and Frances Dolezal; and his brothers, Anton Dolezal and Louis Dolezal.
Jerry is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Ruth Dolezal; sister, Mary Howe of Papillion, Nebraska and husband Arlan; twin brothers, Ady Dolezal of Granbury and Rudy Dolezal of Fort Worth; daughter, Joyce Maresh and husband, Bill Maresh of Woodway; son, Jerry Dolezal Jr. and wife, Angela; four grandchildren, Lisa Monroe and husband, David, Tim Sherry, Micha Zammit and husband, Ken, Chad Dolezal and wife, Kristina; his step-granddaughters, Autumn Watson, Michaelann Miller and husband, Mark and Missi Maresh; seven great- grandchildren, Corban and Callan Monroe, Lauren and Austin Zammit, Jillian and Mason Dolezal and Hayden Watson; and two step great grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Miller.
Pallbearers will be Tim Sherry, Chad Dolezal, Bill Maresh, David Monroe, Corban Monroe, Ken Zammit and David Childers.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Texas Home Health Hospice, especially Jan, Ivy and Isaac for their compassionate and loving care of Jerry.
