Jerry was born March 22, 1939 in Comanche, OK to Paul and Mary Marjetta (Kennedy) Gilbert. The eldest of six children, he graduated from Mooreland High School in 1957. He attended Southwest State College at Weatherford, OK, graduating in 1961 with a BS degree in General Business & Accounting. He served his country for six years in the Army Reserve. He married Freda Rine on November 2, 1962 in Oklahoma City. Jerry received his CPA in 1974 after taking the Becker CPA Review Course. He worked at Main Lafrentz and Co, later known as KMG Main Hurdman where he became a partner. He loved following all sports, especially the Baylor Bears, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Cowboys.
Following his retirement, Jerry and Freda travelled a lot, taking many cruises. Among the most enjoyable places they visited were Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. His hobbies were golf, stamp collecting and attending Gaither Vocal Band concerts. He and Freda enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles together, as well as taking walks in the nearby park. His favorite part of life, however, was being with his family.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was a great provider for his family. There was a weekly tradition of going out to dinner each Friday evening with his family. PaPa, you will be greatly missed.
