PERSONAL LIFE
Jerry was born September 3, 1943 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple to the late Lee Elmore Layne and the late Catherine Marie Davis Layne. He married the love of his life Kathy Kirschner on November 14, 1970.
A TRUE FRIEND
Jerry, also known as 'Pappy' to his grandchildren, was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and true friend. Everyone he came in contact with was blessed. Jerry touched every single life and living creature, always putting other's needs first.
Although he waged war against heart disease for 15 years, his concern was always for the other person?s welfare. His heart was physically weak but spiritually stronger than all others.
IMPROVED THE LIVES OF ANIMALS
His love of family and the glory of living spilled over into his crusade to improve the lives of animals everywhere. His impact in animal rights has been felt not only in Waco and surrounding areas but also stretched to encompass other parts of Texas and the United States
God made only a few like Jerry, people with a special calling in life, whose only desire was to care for all animals and enhance the lives of others.
SURVIVORS
He leaves his greatest loves in life: wife, Kathy; son, Jeffrey Lee Layne of Waco; daughter, Patricia Ann Meadows, husband Steve and grandchildren, Chase, Gage, and Grace Meadows of Waco, and daughter, Susan Lee MacDonald, husband Kenny and granddaughter, Parker MacDonald of Carmas, WA. Also left to mourn his passing, his beloved dog, 'Lucky.'
