Jerry Lynn Reay, age 59, passed away Friday in Temple.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday August 14, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., with Dr. Truell Hyde officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest.
Mr. Reay was born May 21, 1947 in Mt.Vernon, Washington to Robert Barry Reay and Dorothy Timmer Reay.
He was a Navy Veteran of Viet Nam.
Mr. Reay received his degree from TSTC in Laser Electro Optics and worked at several national research sites, including Los Alamos, NM, and Livermore, CA, before returning to Waco.
He served as faculty at TSTC for 19 years, was an early founder of the Baylor/TSTC CASPER program. He was an inspiration to all he touched. He was on a first name basis with technicians and the directors of national programs alike.
His insight, open manner and friendly smile were always welcomed.
Mr. Reay is survived by his children:
Julie Reay of Mart and Jeremy Humpheys of McKinney,
grandson Holden Humphreys of Denton,
sisters Judy Lowry of Lorena, Jo'Anne Clark of Highland Village, Jill Fowler of Ft. Worth, , and
brother Jim Reay of Bullard Tx
Pallbearers will be John Simick, Mike Cook, Jerry Smock, Bob Brunsted, Russell Spicer, and Mike Courtney.
Honorary pallbearer will be Larry White.
