Jerry D. Solomon, 75, of China Spring, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 13 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Daywitt and Rev. Ronnie Hackworth officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Jerry was born July 18, 1935 in Pioneer, Texas to the Rev. J.F. Solomon and Ollie Bruce Solomon. He attended numerous schools in Texas and New Mexico while his father served as a Pentecostal Home Mission pastoring and starting many churches in those states as well as Oklahoma and California.

Jerry retired from Central Texas Iron Works in 2004 after 49 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Timothy; brothers, David and Floyd Solomon; and sister, Mae Davenport.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Bobbye of China Spring; sons, Earnest Solomon and wife, Nancy and Mike Solomon and wife, Karen of the Houston area; daughters, Cindy Martin of Axtell, Marci Ross and husband, Larry, Ingrid Kniffin and husband, Calvin; grandchildren, Chris Draper, Jason and Earnie Solomon II, Brandy Bazmore, Jacob and Katie Ross, Laura, Wesley, Melanie and Daniel Kniffin; several great-grandchldren; sisters, Christine Stewart, Darlene Ellis, Paulette Davenport, Nadine Thames and Mary Jo Ingersall; and brothers, Laurance and J.W. Blackstock

Jerry was previously married to Bessie Long Solomon and they had four children together. They have remained close and are still dear friends.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Jason Solomon, Earnie Solomon II, Chris and Brandy Draper, Brandy Brazmore and Katie Ross.
