Jesse B. Gonzales, 83, of Waco, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Timothy Vaverek officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Jesse was born January 2, 1926 in Rosebud to Jesse Gonzales and Ann Beltran Gonzales. Jesse married Julia Caldera on April 10, 1970 in Waco. He worked for J.M. Wood Clothing Company for 33 years before retiring in 1976.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Bonnie Church; brothers, Joe, Sam, Jack and J.B. Gonzales; sisters, Alice Lopez and Ramona Linares; and granddaughter, Mikala Gonzales.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 39 years, Julia Gonzales; daughters, Mary Cassell and husband, Gary of Waco, Jessica Lapp and husband, Mike of Bryan, Eva Sisneros and husband, Ray of Waco,Victoria Chavez of Waco, David, Red, Tony, Janie, Rosie and Teresa Gonzales; brothers, Ted and Angel Gonzales; 47 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Greg Gonzales, Jason and Clayton Lapp, Adrian and Dustin Chavez, Petey Basquez and Riggen Taylor.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Providence Hospice for their care and compassion they showed towards them and Jesse.
The family will receive guests after the committal service on Monday at the family home.
