Jesse Mcdaniel

J. Myron McDaniel, Sr., 96, of Waco, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at a Waco retirement center. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2002 at the Chapel of OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., with the Rev. Julie Pennington-Russell officiating. Burial will be at the Waco Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. McDaniel was born to J.C. and Nell Sales McDaniel on September 19, 1906 in Haskell, Texas and moved to Waco at a very early age. He graduated from Waco High School and from Coyne Electrical College in Chicago. He founded McDaniel Garage in 1932 and operated it until he retired in 1971. He was Past Worshipful Master of Baylor Masonic Lodge and received a 60th year Certificate in 2000. He also received The Golden Trowel Award.

Mr. McDaniel married his wife, Julia Ann Moore, in 1933 in Waco, and they lived a devoted and happy life together for 69 years. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Ann; a son, J. Myron McDaniel, Jr. and his wife Patsy of Elm Mott; a grandson, Mark McDaniel of Elm Mott; two granddaughters, Jill Ann Wilkerson and her husband Leroy of Conroe, Tx., and Preshia Willmann and her husband Russell of Hewitt; and six great-grandchildren, Weston, Whitney and Haley Wilkerson of Conroe, Tx., Heath and Cameron McDaniel of Elm Mott and Dylan Willmann of Hewitt.

Honorary pallbearers will be D.G. Melton, Walter Pearce, Albert Cobb, Dan Morgan, Calvin Meador, Ed Archer, and Bob Detlefsen.
