Jimmie Rogers

Jimmie Rogers, 72, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 in a Waco hospital. Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, at OakCrest Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of his Life at 11 a.m. with Dr. Kenneth Moerbe officiating. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.
Jimmie was born May 9, 1936 in Fort Worth to Lera Marie and James Silas Rogers. He served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Montgomery Wards and then worked as Operations Manager of Caritas until his death.
Jimmie loved music and was a professional musician who played in the 1960s with Delbert McClinton and The Rondels. In the later years he played with several area bands. He was also a Shriner. He loved helping people, especially children and elderly people. Jimmie adored his family, friends, and dogs
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rogers; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Glenn Rogers and Nancy Rogers of Big Lake, Alaska; step-son and daughter-in-law, Jimbo and Jodi Spencer of Woodway; step-daughter and son-in-law, Sue Lynn and James Adams of Troy; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jimmie Jr. and Blake Rogers, Natasha and Brittany Thomas, Bailee and Katelyn Bench, Kim and Joshua Buckley, and Avah and Cooper Spencer; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bud Harger, Dean Pankonien, Ralph Sparks, James Adams, Delbert McLinton, Shorty Grisham, and his grandson, Joshua Buckley.
