Jo Ann Looper

Jo Ann (Arthur) Looper, 82, died November 20, 2024. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00am on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held the same day at 1:00pm at Oakwood Cemetery.

Jo Ann was born February 25, 1942, in Amarillo. She married Travis D. Looper on December 7, 1960 in Raton, New Mexico, eloping during a blizzard. They had two children, John and Ruth Ann. After several years as a homemaker, Jo Ann returned to school to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing at MCC. She served as a nurse in various local hospitals. She especially enjoyed her time at the VA hospital. An avid quilter, she won several awards at quilt shows for her work. Jo Ann loved reading, saying the first thing she did every time she moved was get a new library card.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Travis D. Looper and her son, John Charles Looper. Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Ann Pieri (Parker); grandson, Michael Pieri; granddaughter, Catherine Pieri; and chosen family Bud and Mary Jane Morgan.
