October 18, 1925 to July 9, 2007
Jo Alice McDonald Cranford, 81, of Temple, was received into the hands of God on Monday, July 9, 2007.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, with the Rev Andy Davis and the Rev. Eric Herrstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at the OakCrest Funeral Home. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation.
Jo Alice was born in Ballinger, Texas to James Collie and Sue Alice Speed McDonald. Jo Alice and her sister and four older brothers, whom all have preceded her in death, were raised in Miles and San Angelo, Texas. She graduated from Baylor University in 1946 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. While at Baylor she met Charles Cranford.
They married in August 1946 and enjoyed 60 years of an enduring and loving marriage. Jo and Charles then moved to Corpus Christi where they raised their two children, Scott and Jan, and lived happily for over 30 years. After retiring from teaching high school, Jo and Charles moved to Harker Heights where she taught business at Central Texas College until 1986. During retirement Charles and Jo took numerous trips around the world with family and friends.
Jo never stopped reminding everyone in her family how proud she was of each of them.
She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother and "Meema" to her grandchildren. Her constant love and deep care for her friends and family will forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles W. Cranford in December 2006.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Scott Cranford of Villa Rica, Ga., and wife Kay; daughter, Jan Alice Herrstrom of Waco and husband, Lyndon; grandchildren, Krista Cranford Moulton of Crestview, Fl., and husband Jason; Eric Herrstrom of Arlington, Tx. and wife Laura, Laura Cranford Zschach of Marietta, Ga. and husband Kevin, Sue Alice Herrstrom Sauthoff of Franklin, Tn. and husband, Matt; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Chase, and Jacob Moulton, Austin and Tanner Zschach, and Emma Grace Herrstrom, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be given to Baylor University, 1 Bear Place, Box 97026, Waco, TX 76798 or to the Alzheimer's Association Research Division, 6605 Sanger, Suite 1, Waco, TX 76710.
